St. Gregory's Vacation Bible School Inspires Faith and Fellowship

On Thursday, July 9, 2026, the Diocesan Primate, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, accompanied by the Rev. Fr. Vazken Movsesian, Founder of the E-postle mission, visited the Vacation Bible School at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Pasadena, where he spent time with students, volunteers, and clergy, witnessing firsthand the vibrant spirit of faith that has brought together nearly 130 campers and 40 dedicated volunteers.

Deeply impressed by the program, Archbishop Derderian praised the exceptional leadership and the Christ-centered environment cultivated throughout the week. In the morning, the Blessing of the Four Corners of the World was held in the church sactuary.

"The spirit of the Christian Faith is visible. With close to 130 campers and 40 volunteers, it is undeniable that the new Church is in motion. The two hours that I spent talking to and interacting with campers gave me immense spiritual strength."

Gathering with the children, the Primate spoke about the power and importance of prayer, encouraging them to nurture their relationship with God from an early age.

"God listens to your prayers because you have a pure heart. In today's turbulent world, we are all in dire need of children's prayers."

Archbishop Derderian expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the parish's pastor, Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Petoyan, for his devoted pastoral leadership and unwavering commitment to the spiritual growth of the parish's youth. He also commended the dedicated directors of the Vacation Bible School, Deacon Jonathan Dergazarian, a future seminarian of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary, and Victoria Amran, whose faithful service and inspiring leadership continue to share the light of the Gospel with a new generation of young Armenians.

The Primate concluded his visit by offering his paternal blessings to the campers, volunteers, teachers, and families, praying that the seeds of faith planted during the Vacation Bible School will continue to flourish in their hearts and bear abundant fruit in the life of the Church for years to come.
