Cathedral's "Little Melodies" Children's Choir Enthrall Audience At Year-End Concert

On May 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., the “Little Melodies” Children’s Choir held its year-end concert for the 2025–2026 academic year. Held in the sanctuary of St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral The concert served as a beautiful culmination of the choir’s work throughout the year, filled with childlike sincerity, musical refinement, and a spirit of patriotism.

The concert program featured both sacred hymns and children’s songs — including playful melodies, songs glorifying the beauty of nature and the world, as well as compositions filled with love for the homeland. Through the children’s performances, each song acquired a unique warmth and vibrancy, conveying joy, emotion, and radiant inspiration to all those present.

The choir members took the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, demonstrating the musical abilities, unity, and love for song they had cultivated throughout the year. Especially moving was the children’s natural and heartfelt participation, which gave the entire concert a warm familial and spiritual atmosphere.

The director of the “Little Melodies” Choir is Deacon Arthur Vardanyan, whose devotion and dedicated efforts over the years have greatly contributed to the musical and spiritual formation of the children. The accompanist for the concert was Sophie Սարգսյան, whose delicate and skillful performances beautifully complemented the choir’s presentations.

At the conclusion of the concert, the Cathedral's pastor Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan offered words of blessing and appreciation to those in attendance, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in the spiritual and cultural upbringing of children. Fr. Khajag also read the message of the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, addressed to Choir Director Deacon Arthur Vardanyan, the teachers, and the students. In his message, the Primate highly commended the choir’s ministry, regarding it as a meaningful contribution to Armenian and Christian education.

Fr. Khajag then presented gifts to the young singers, congratulating them on their successful year and beautiful performance.

The concert concluded in a warm and inspiring atmosphere, as the audience expressed their appreciation and gratitude through prolonged applause for the young singers, their director, and all those whose dedication and love bring this beautiful mission to life.
