On April 24, a commemorative ceremony marking the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place at the Armenian Genocide Martyrs Memorial Monument, bringing together spiritual leaders, high-ranking government and community officials, and thousands of faithful.
The Primate of the Western Diocese of the United States, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, was in attendance. The ceremony included a wreath-laying and a united prayer service. Among those present were U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, California State Senator Bob Archuleta, and the Mayor of Glendale, Ardy Kassakhian, as well as representatives of the City of Montebello, including Jack Hadjinian, and members of Los Angeles County governing bodies. Representatives of community organizations and scouting groups were also present, lending their participation to this nationwide commemoration.
The ceremony reaffirmed the Armenian people’s commitment to preserving historical memory and continuing the pursuit of justice.
