On Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Organization of Istanbul Armenians (OIA) hosted a special evening honoring Kevork B. Hagopian for his lifelong contributions to Armenian history and cultural preservation. The celebration followed his receipt of a Pontifical Encyclical from His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and the prestigious St. Sahag–St. Mesrop Medal.

The gathering brought together clergy, community leaders, intellectuals, family members, and friends to recognize Hagopian's extensive scholarly work and dedication to preserving Armenian heritage.

Following opening remarks by Garbis Sarafian, Chairman of the OIA Cultural Committee, keynote speaker Hratch Sepetjian highlighted Hagopian's years of research in Ottoman archives, through which he uncovered invaluable photographs and historical documents. He emphasized the importance of making these works accessible to Armenian schools, universities, and centers of Armenian Studies.

A message from Armenia was read by OIA Secretary Mariette Ohannes, followed by a written message from His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, presented by the Rev. Fr. Gevork Abyan. Archbishop Derderian praised Hagopian's research as a significant contribution to documenting the history, faith, and cultural life of Armenian communities in their ancestral lands. He also highlighted the legacy of St. Sahak and St. Mesrop and the enduring responsibility to preserve the Armenian language and cultural heritage.

In his remarks, Hagopian expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Holiness Karekin II, Archbishop Derderian, the Association, and all those who had supported his scholarly endeavors.

Archbishop Derderian concluded the program with a pastoral message and prayer, commending Hagopian's dedication to preserving Armenian historical memory for future generations.

The evening also featured a video presentation of the medal-awarding ceremony at St. Ghevontiants Cathedral, followed by a reception celebrating Hagopian's distinguished achievements and enduring service to Armenian heritage.
