Chronicles Of The Western Diocese's Centennial History With Norayr Poghosyan

In 1927, as Armenians in California were taking steps to separate from the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America and establish an independent diocese, more than 80,000 Armenians were living throughout the state.

Parishes of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church were active in the following communities:

  • Holy Trinity Armenian Church, Fresno
  • St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, Fowler
  • St. Mary Armenian Church, Yettem
  • Sts. Sahag-Mesrob Armenian Church, Reedley
  • St. John Armenian Church, San Francisco
  • St. Vartan Armenian Church, Oakland
  • The newly established Los Angeles parish, which did not yet have a church of its own.
