On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the faithful of St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral gathered in prayer as His Grace Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Damascus, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the homily. Prior to the service, the Diocesan Primate, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, warmly welcomed Bishop Armash and introduced him to the congregation, expressing gratitude for his pastoral ministry and longstanding service to the Armenian Church. In his sermon, Bishop Armash reflected on the enduring strength of faith, encouraging the faithful to remain steadfast in Christ and to continue living as devoted witnesses to the Gospel.
Archbishop Derderian also bestowed the rank of Stole Bearer (Ouraragir) upon altar servers Hovhannes Burnuchyan, Andranik Hakobyan, and Mesrop Tahmazyan. Congratulating the newly elevated acolytes, the Primate encouraged them to renew their faith and sacred calling, reminding them that their ministry at the Holy Altar is both a privilege and a lifelong commitment to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Armenian Apostolic Church with humility, reverence, and unwavering dedication.
