On June 15, 2026, the Diocesan Primate welcomed renowned NBA assistant coach Rex Kalamian to the Diocesan Headquarters in Burbank. During their cordial meeting, Archbishop Derderian and Coach Kalamian discussed the importance of faith, leadership, and inspiring future generations through service and dedication.
The Primate expressed his appreciation for Kalamian’s accomplishments in professional sports and his commitment to the Armenian community. Coach Kalamian is scheduled to serve as the keynote speaker at the Men’s Forum of St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church in Pasadena on June 25, where he will share reflections on leadership, perseverance, and the values that have guided his successful career in the National Basketball Association.
