On Saturday, May 30, 2026, St. Peter Armenian Saturday School of Van Nuys celebrated the conclusion of the 2025–2026 academic year with a festive year-end program attended by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, Rev. Fr. Shnork Demirjian, Rev. Fr. Mikael Kureghyan, Deacon Hovhannes Gumruyan, Spiritual Supervisor of the Western Diocese’s Saturday Schools, as well as school administrators, teachers, parents, students, and guests.

The highlight of the program was a theatrical performance of David of Sassoon, presented by students from various grade levels under the direction of Mr. Raffi Melkonian. Their inspiring portrayal of the Armenian national epic was warmly received by the audience. The event also featured the recognition of graduating students, who received their diplomas from Archbishop Derderian, as well as special awards for the winners of the school’s uniform design art competition. Remarks were delivered on behalf of the administration by Mrs. Tsovinar Ghazaryan.



In his message, Archbishop Derderian commended the school’s vital role in preserving Armenian faith, language, and identity. The celebration concluded with a moving prayer and pledge led by the Primate, during which students reaffirmed their commitment to the Armenian Apostolic Church, their Christian faith, the Armenian homeland, and responsible citizenship. A reception followed, providing an opportunity for fellowship and celebration as the school community marked another successful academic year.
