On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Armenian International Women’s Association hosted its elegant Pearl Anniversary Gala, themed “Cultivating a Legacy,” at Reflections Venue. The memorable evening gathered community leaders, benefactors, and supporters in celebration of the organization’s enduring mission to empower Armenian women and cultivate future generations of leadership.
The evening commenced with introductory remarks by Nadia Shamsi, Chair of the Pearl Anniversary Committee, followed by Jacqueline Sarkissian of KTLA News 5, who served as Master of Ceremonies. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Houry Aposhian, President of AIWA Los Angeles, who reflected upon the organization’s accomplishments and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering meaningful connections and opportunities for Armenian women both locally and globally.
The Diocesan Primate attended the Gala and delivered the invocation. In his remarks, His Eminence expressed heartfelt appreciation to the leadership and members of AIWA for their unwavering dedication to service and for their steadfast commitment to uplifting Armenian women through education, mentorship, and leadership development. Archbishop Derderian commended the organization for fostering personal and professional growth, providing scholarships, and creating opportunities that inspire and prepare the next generation of Armenian leaders throughout the world.
The program also featured a musical performance by Greg Hosharian and the Armenian Pops Ensemble, adding a festive and celebratory spirit to the gala. Acclaimed journalist, documentary producer, and bestselling author Silva Harapetian addressed the gathering as keynote speaker, offering reflections on identity, perseverance, and the importance of preserving Armenian voices and experiences through storytelling and leadership.
Following dinner, remarks and a special video presentation were offered by Silva Katchiguian, President of the AIWA Board of Directors, highlighting the organization’s longstanding achievements and its vision for the future. The evening concluded with a special recognition and appreciation presentation led by Houry Aposhian and Nadia Shamsi, honoring those whose dedication and service have contributed to the continued success and growth of AIWA.
The Western Diocese extends its congratulations and best wishes to the Armenian International Women’s Association – Los Angeles Chapter on this milestone anniversary and prays for God’s continued blessings upon its noble mission and future endeavors.
