UCLA and USC Armenian Student Associations Host Armenian Genocide Remembrance Program and Vigil

On Friday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m., a commemorative Armenian Genocide Remembrance Program and Candlelight Vigil was held at The Elizabeth and W. Thomas Davis Courtyard at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. The Rev. Fr. Avedis Abovian, Pastor of Holy Apostles Armenian Church of Crescenta Valley represented the Diocesan Primate at the event.

The event was organized by the Armenian Student Associations at UCLA and the University of Southern California in observance of the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The program brought together students, scholars, and community members for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and solidarity.

The commemoration began with a reception. It was followed by a formal speaking program and a candlelight vigil, which concluded with Fr. Avedis Abovian's prayer and words of reflection.

Speakers included representatives from the UCLA Undergraduate Student Association Council, the Promise Armenian Institute at UCLA, the Armenian Students Association Board, as well as leading historians specializing in the Armenian Genocide.

The gathering served as an opportunity for the academic and Armenian communities to come together in honoring the memory of the victims, reaffirming the importance of historical remembrance, and standing in support of truth and justice.
