Young Altar Servers Honored with the St. Gregory the Illuminator Award

On February 8, 2026, a special and uplifting blessing ceremony took place, celebrating the faith, dedication, and spiritual growth of three young altar servers of our Church. Father Yeremia Abgaryan, together with his brothers in Christ, Archpriest Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian and Fr. Vasken Movsesian, bestowed their blessing upon Arek Dakessian, Arek Siminoff, and Shant Siminoff.

Arek Dakessian, the son of Ara and Maral Dakessian, and Arek and Shant Siminoff, the sons of Eric and Ani Siminoff, serve faithfully as altar servers (tbirs) and are active members of the Boy Scouts of America in affiliation with the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Through diligence, perseverance, and sincere devotion, they successfully completed all requirements to earn the sacred religious emblem of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, one of the highest spiritual honors bestowed upon Armenian Scouts.

As the great-nephews of Archpriest Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian and Fr. Vasken Movsesian, these young men approached their studies with seriousness and reverence. Their journey included careful learning of the canons, prayers, hymns, and sacraments of our Holy Armenian Church, reflecting both intellectual commitment and heartfelt faith.

Father Yeremia Abgaryan expressed deep pride and joy in these exemplary scouts, praising their dedication and discipline. Their achievement stands as a beautiful testimony to the fruits of faith nurtured within the family, the Church, and the scouting community. By receiving the St. Gregory the Illuminator Award, they have not only reached an important milestone, but have also set a commendable example for their peers.

May the Lord continue to guide and strengthen these young servants of the altar, and may the spirit of St. Gregory the Illuminator inspire them always to walk in faith, service, and love for the Church and her people.
