On January 9, 2026, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Diocesan Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, accompanied by Diocesan Council Chairman Mr. Derik Ghookasian and the Diocese’s Executive Director, Deacon Harout Markarian, attended a special ceremonial event at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.



During the solemn ceremony, His Excellency Narek Mkrtchyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States, formally presented a Holy Bible donated to the Museum by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Nikol Pashinyan. The presentation underscored the enduring spiritual heritage of the Armenian people and their historic witness to the Christian faith.


As part of the program, Ambassador Mkrtchyan and Dr. Carlos Campo, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Museum of the Bible, signed an official document confirming that the Bible donated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia will hold a special place within the Museum’s collection and will be exhibited to the public throughout 2026. Representatives of various Christian organizations were also present at the event, including Mr. Paul Murray, CEO of the “Save Armenia” Jewish-Christian Alliance, further reflecting the spirit of interfaith cooperation and shared reverence for the Holy Scriptures.
