On January 13, 2026, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, visited Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center as the institution marked its historic 100th anniversary. During the centennial celebration, Archbishop Derderian offered a special blessing, reflecting on the hospital’s noble mission of compassionate care, healing, and service to the community over the past century. His Eminence commended the hospital for its steadfast commitment to upholding the dignity of every human person and for embodying values of faith, mercy, and service that have guided its ministry since its founding.





The commemorative program featured remarks by Betsy Hart, RN, President and CEO of Dignity Health, Glendale; Dr. Ana Garza; Rev. Cassie McCarty, MDiv, BCC, Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care Services; the Honorable Ara Najarian, Mayor of Glendale; and His Eminence Archbishop Kegham Khatcherian, member of the Brotherhood of the Great House of Cilicia. The celebration included reflections on the hospital’s rich century-long history, the introduction of a commemorative time capsule, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolizing continued growth and service in the years ahead. The event was gracefully opened and concluded with performances by the Glendale High School dancers, adding a vibrant and uplifting spirit to this milestone occasion.
