Sacrament Of Marriage In The Armenian Church

In the month of October, St. Mary Armenian Church of Costa Mesa hosted the Rev. Fr. Vazken Movsesian, Hayk Madoyan and Mashdots Jobanian, guest speakers from Saint Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral.

This program was the initial one of the intended future series of the seven sacraments of the Armenian Church geared towards educating and answering the questions of our youth and adults in an interactive format.

The focus of the initial program was on Marriage and relationships. The hall hosted close to seventy guests who participated in the interactive panel and asked questions to our speaker guests. The presentation started with an audio visual introduction featuring marriage in the Armenian church and its universal meaning followed by Dr. Nazeli Daphne Saharyildizi’s (Chair of St. Mary Cultural Committee) introductory speech and vocal delivery of the biography of the valued speakers of the panel. Each speaker presented their own approach and valuable research on this subject which lasted for a total of fifty minutes. The interactive panel started after this session where the speakers answered proficiently many great questions that were brought up.

The entire program was extremely informative and kept the interest of the public from its beginning to the very end.

I would like to heartily thank our Primate His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian for his support in realization of this program.These types of programs are extremely valuable in the sense that including our parish and youth in these discussions and their active participation indeed encourages self evaluation and leads individuals to search for the Biblical guidance and truth.
