Under the direction of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, the Western Diocese has more than ten Saturday Schools in California with more than 500 students.  The schools aim to build a strong foundation for Armenian identity enhancement in our young generation. The language and culture curriculum instills knowledge of the Armenian language, history, religion, and culture.

The curriculum is based on California language teaching standards, and provides teachers with lesson plans, instructional  methods, strategies and activities. All schools use the same texts and educational materials.
