DEMIRGIAN SCHOLARSHIP

Ladies’ Society High Tea Luncheon Honors Mother of the Year
Published - 2 June 2017

The Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County Ladies’ Society honored Alice Krumian, Westlake Village, as its first Mother of the Year recipient.

Awarded to mothers who have given exceptional service to the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County, the presentation was made by Nora Sahagian and Lucille Farsakian during the Ladies’ Society High Tea Luncheon held May 13 at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village. Krumian was recognized for instituting and teaching of Armenian language classes for children at the church. She has been ably assisted in the endeavor by co-teacher Adriana Tufenkjian.

(Alice Krumian, center, was presented the first Mother of the Year award at the Mother’s Day High Tea Luncheon sponsored by the Ladies’ Society of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County. Luncheon Co-Chairs Lucille Farsakian, left, and Nora Sahagian, right, made the presentation, which honors mothers for exceptional service to the church.)

Before her retirement, Krumian was a French and English Literacy Development (ELD) teacher at Marshall Fundamental High School in Pasadena for 21 years. She began her teaching career in Aleppo and later relocated to Beirut where she taught at the high school and college levels until moving to the United States in 1985.

Krumian and her husband Garabed (Garo) have three children: Dr. Razmig Krumian, Agoura Hills: Sevan Krumian, Washington D.C.; and Nareg Krumian, Westlake Village; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to the Mother of the year award, the luncheon (which drew the largest attendance ever) featured entertainment provided by Hamazkavin Niari Dance Ensemble and by soloist Patricia Adrian, choir director at the Armenian Apostolic Church of Ventura County, as well as a Chinese auction and extravagant lunch buffet.
