On the evening of May 30, 2025, the courtyard of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America came alive with vibrant colors, lively music, and the rich flavors of Mexico during a festive “Mexican Night” celebration. Organized by the Ladies Society of St. Leon Ghevontiants Armenian Cathedral under the leadership of Chairwoman Angela Parseghian, the event brought together parishioners and friends for a joyful evening of fellowship and cultural appreciation.
The celebration began with welcoming remarks from the Cathedral’s Pastor, the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, who praised the tireless efforts of the Ladies Society in bringing the community together through their dedication and hospitality. Fr. Shahbazyan expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to the evening’s success, noting the importance of such gatherings in strengthening the bonds of parish life. Emcee duties for the evening were cheerfully handled by Deacon Steve (Stepan) Hovagimian, whose warm humor and charisma was received with laughter and excitement.
Guests were treated to a delicious array of traditional Mexican cuisine, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The evening’s entertainment featured electrifying live performances by Calé and the Diocese’s own Sergey Arustamyan and his spouse Ani Khachatryan, whose musical talents energized the crowd and added a spirited rhythm to the night.
With laughter, dancing, and shared joy filling the air, Mexican Night proved to be a memorable occasion that celebrated both cultural diversity and the unity of the diocesan family.
On June 25, the Ladies Society will host Paint Night. See the flier below.
