Friends of Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital, a group of prominent physicians and professionals were introduced to the congregation by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America during the service on the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
The group will raise awareness in the Armenian-American community about the noble mission of the Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank.
The members of the Friends of Providence St. Joseph’s Circle are Dr. Steve Yacoubian, Dr. Shahan Yacoubian, Dr. Raffi Mesrobian, Dr. Hasmik Sarkissian, Dr. Artin Kevorkian, Attorney Sarkis J. Babachanian, Mr. Derik Ghookasian, Mrs. Aida Sethian, Mrs. Belet Shahbazian, Mr. Armen Grigorian, Mr. Vahik Alkhasian, and Mrs. Lucy Tashjian.
Introducing the group of dedicated individuals, the Primate said “Today, we share with you all the good news that few weeks ago a new mission has been launched under the auspices of the Western Diocese, with the initiation of “Friends of Providence St. Joseph’s Circle” composed of prominent doctors and professionals, whom I greet here today with pride. The creation of the circle of Friends of Providence St. Joseph’s pursues a noble cause which raises awareness in the life Armenian-American community of the Western Diocese and more so in the city of Burbank the mission of Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
In about two months, the Diocese will be hosting a reception in honor of the Foundation of Providence St. Joseph’s during which time we will be facilitating a meeting between the Board members of the Foundation as well as the Board representing the Western Diocese to look into venues of collaboration.
I ask you all to keep Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center, the Board Members, the physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers in your prayers. Together, they bring joy and hope in the lives of the community members during their times of distress and pain.
