On June 5, 2025, the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America welcomed the faithful to a spiritually enriching evening dedicated to the beauty, meaning, and depth of the Divine Liturgy. The event took place in the Armen Hampar Room at St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral, and was graciously organized by the Zvartnots Cultural Committee chaired by Dr. Simon Simonian.
The program featured a thoughtful and engaging presentation by Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, Parish Priest of St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral. Fr. Khajag provided a step-by-step reflection on the structure and spiritual richness of the Divine Liturgy, highlighting the deeply personal ways in which the faithful can experience connection with God through worship. His insights offered a meaningful glimpse into the sacred traditions and theological beauty of the Liturgy.
Musical accompaniment was provided by the Shnorhali Choir, under the direction of Deacon Artur Vardanyan, who performed a selection of sharagans—cherished Armenian hymns that are integral to the Divine Liturgy. Fr. Khajag thoughtfully shared several sharagans that hold personal significance to him, while also affirming the unique beauty of all sharagans, and their vital role in the liturgical life of the Church.
The evening concluded with a lively and engaging Q&A session, during which participants had the opportunity to ask questions and deepen their understanding of the Divine Liturgy. This open dialogue allowed for greater appreciation of the Church’s spiritual heritage and strengthened the bond between clergy and faithful.
The Western Diocese extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Zvartnots Cultural Committee for organizing this inspiring and educational evening.
